Do you ever have those arguments with your kid and you ask yourself "How the hell did we get here?" They are making no sense in their reasoning, or they possibly can't even put together a complete sentence. Maybe you have only heard yelling for the last 30 minutes and no actual words.
This is an example of your child's primal brain taking over. The authors of the book "The Whole Brain Child" refer to this as the lower brain. This is where all the base instincts kick in, and sometimes any form of reasoning can be thrown out the door.
Today I talk about how I COMPLETELY failed at recognizing this in my 5-year-old and how maybe YOU AND I can BOTH avoid it in the future.
