One of the greatest fears of any parent is the loss of a child. We expect to watch them grow and thrive. The idea of their death seems almost impossible compared to our own mortality.
In today's episode I speak with Dr Eric Larson, MD. He is the host of the Paradocs Podcast and member of the Doctor Podcast Network. He is an anesthesiologist practicing in Michigan and Clinical Assistant Professor at Michigan State University, College of Human Medicine.
He is a father and husband, and a few years ago he and his wife had to live one of the worst fears a parent can imagine - the loss of a child in a tragic accident. Today we discuss how that affected him as a parent, physician, and husband. We touch on various subjects, including how to approach death with our kids as well as our colleagues at work.
After their loss, his wife, Dr Marcy Larson, decided to tell their story through the means of a podcast as well as interview other parents who have lost a child. Her podcast is titled Losing a Child: Always Andy's Mom.
